In a significant diplomatic exchange, Qatar lauds PM Shehbaz’s visit, with Minister Al-Khulaifi calling on Ishaq Dar. The two sides agree to boost trade, investment, and regional collaboration

ISLAMABAD: Qatar has expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent official visit to Doha, describing it as a meaningful step toward strengthening relations between the two countries. The remarks were conveyed during a telephone conversation between Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, along with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar.

According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar received the call while he was in Saudi Arabia attending an Extraordinary Open-Ended Ministerial Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

During their discussion, Dr. Al-Khulaifi acknowledged the positive impact of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s February 23–24 visit to Doha, noting that it had provided fresh momentum to Pakistan-Qatar ties. He reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to deepening cooperation and maintaining strong bilateral engagement.

Senator Ishaq Dar, in turn, thanked the Qatari leadership for the warm reception and hospitality extended to the Prime Minister and his delegation during their stay. Both leaders reviewed ongoing areas of cooperation and exchanged views on regional and international developments of shared concern.

The conversation followed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s two-day visit to Qatar, during which he held discussions with the Emir of Qatar and other senior officials. The meetings focused on enhancing collaboration in trade, investment, energy, defence, and labour mobility. Both sides agreed to establish a joint mechanism to accelerate progress in these priority sectors.

Regional matters, including developments in Gaza and Afghanistan, were also part of the talks, reflecting the two countries’ shared interest in promoting stability and cooperation.

The latest diplomatic engagement highlights the continued efforts of Pakistan and Qatar to strengthen their partnership across political, economic, and strategic domains.
