PTCL posts Rs 9.7bn loss despite 12% revenue growth in 2025

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has reported a 12% year-on-year increase in consolidated revenue for the year ended December 31, 2025, driven largely by a 50% surge in its Flash Fiber segment and 16% growth in Business Solutions.

Despite the strong top-line performance, the Group posted a consolidated net loss of Rs. 9.7 billion. According to the company, this loss was primarily due to accelerated Expected Credit Loss (ECL) provisioning at Ubank, following revisions to the Prudential Regulations. On a positive note, consolidated operating profit increased by 216% year-on-year, reflecting improved operational efficiency.

At the standalone level, PTCL demonstrated resilience, posting a net profit of Rs. 1.4 billion. This was achieved despite a one-time booking of an additional pension liability amounting to Rs. 6.9 billion, pursuant to a Supreme Court decision. The company’s operating profit stood at Rs. 18.2 billion, up 49% from the previous year.

The mobile services arm, Ufone, recorded 14% revenue growth, with operating profit surging 283% to Rs. 17.6 billion, while net loss narrowed by 89%.

In a landmark development, PTCL successfully completed the acquisition of Telenor Pakistan on December 31, 2025, marking one of the country’s most significant telecom consolidations. Telenor Pakistan’s operational results will be consolidated starting January 1, 2026.
