Prime Minister Narendra Modi Lands in Israel on Wednesday for a two-day state visit aimed at upgrading bilateral ties to a “special strategic partnership,” with a focus on bolstering defense cooperation, technology sharing, and trade agreements .
Upon arrival, Modi was received at the airport by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has described India as a “gigantic power” . The visit marks only the second time an Indian prime minister has travelled to Israel, the first being Modi’s historic trip in 2017 .

The highlight of the visit will be Modi addressing the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, making him the first Indian prime minister to do so . According to sources, the two nations are set to formalize an upgraded “special strategic partnership,” which would place the relationship on a footing similar to Israel’s ties with the United States . This framework is expected to facilitate the joint development of advanced defence systems, including air defense, and open new categories of security cooperation .
Ahead of the talks, Netanyahu proposed forming a “hexagon” of allies that would include India, alongside Greece, Cyprus, and other Arab and Asian nations, to counter regional threats . However, the visit is not without controversy. Israel’s opposition has threatened to boycott Modi’s Knesset address over a domestic protocol dispute, and critics within India have questioned the visit’s timing amidst escalating tensions between the US and Iran
