The Government of Sindh has officially introduced a new pricing structure for fancy or preferred vehicle registration numbers, with the highest-tier premium plates now costing up to Rs. 2 million.

According to an official notification issued by the provincial Excise and Taxation Department, vehicle owners can now obtain registration numbers of their choice by paying a fixed fee under a newly structured system.

Previously, fancy number plates were often acquired through informal channels due to high demand. The newly implemented policy aims to regulate this demand while also generating additional government revenue through a transparent process.

💸 New Fancy Number Plate Fee Structure in Sindh

Under the revised framework, the government has categorized premium vehicle registration numbers into several pricing slabs:

Top-tier numbers (e.g., 786 and 110): Rs. 2,000,000
Three-digit numbers (111–999): Rs. 1,000,000
Numbers between 100–900: Rs. 500,000
Single-digit style plates (001–009): Rs. 500,000
Other preferred numbers: Rs. 300,000

These rates are applicable to vehicle owners who wish to acquire symbolic or memorable registration marks for their vehicles.

Why the Sindh Government Introduced This Policy

Special vehicle registration numbers have long been popular among car owners in Sindh, especially combinations considered culturally or religiously significant. Numbers like 786 often carry symbolic value and are widely sought after as status symbols.

Officials say the move will:

Ensure transparency in the allocation of premium numbers
Prevent unofficial payments and middlemen involvement
Monetize a high-demand public resource
Channel private spending into the provincial exchequer

The structured pricing model is expected to curb irregular practices and introduce a fair mechanism for issuing exclusive number plates across the province.

Motorists planning to purchase new vehicles in Sindh will now have the option to select custom registration numbers through an official fee-based system. However, securing a premium number may significantly increase the overall cost of vehicle registration.

Standard registration numbers will continue to be issued at regular rates, and opting for a fancy number plate remains entirely voluntary.
