Faisalabad Records Hundreds of Child Abuse Cases in 2025 — No Convictions Yet

663 Cases Registered Across Faisalabad in 2025

Faisalabad, Pakistan — Despite hundreds of reported cases of sexual abuse against minors in 2025, not a single conviction has been secured so far in cases registered this year, according to official police statistics.

The figures have raised serious concerns about delays in investigation, prosecution, and justice delivery within the district.

Police data shows that 663 cases involving minors were registered across 45 police stations in Faisalabad during 2025. Authorities identified 989 suspects in connection with these cases.

However, courts have yet to convict any accused individuals in cases filed this year.

Case Status: Dismissals, Incomplete Challans, and Ongoing Investigations

According to district records:

  • 131 cases were dismissed on various legal or procedural grounds

  • 344 cases had charge sheets submitted

  • A total of 154 cases were forwarded to prosecutors with incomplete challans.

  • 18 cases remain under active investigation

Incomplete challans — official investigation reports required for prosecution — remain one of the primary reasons cases are stalled before reaching trial.

Divisions With the Highest Reported Cases

Several divisions reported particularly high numbers of cases, including:

  • Madina Town

  • Iqbal Division

  • Jaranwala

  • Saddar

  • Lyallpur

Many cases in these divisions are either pending investigation or awaiting prosecution due to incomplete documentation.

2026 Begins With Continued Reports

The troubling trend has continued into 2026.

In January alone, authorities registered 57 new cases involving 76 suspects. Several remain under investigation, while others are awaiting formal prosecution proceedings.

Sentences Issued in Older Cases

Although no convictions have been recorded for cases registered in 2025, courts did issue verdicts in four cases from previous years.

These included:

  • One case resulted in a 50-year prison sentence, along with financial penalties for rape

  • Other cases leading to 10-year prison terms

  • A death penalty was imposed in a rape-and-murder case

These verdicts demonstrate that convictions are possible, though legal proceedings often take years to conclude.

Legal Experts Highlight Systemic Delays

Legal experts point to several recurring issues that continue to delay justice:

  • Slow investigative processes

  • Incomplete or improperly prepared challans

  • Delays in prosecution

  • Court backlogs

They warn that prolonged proceedings not only delay justice but also increase trauma for victims and their families.

Growing Concern Over Justice Delivery

With hundreds of cases registered and no convictions yet for 2025 filings, concerns are mounting over the effectiveness of child protection mechanisms and judicial efficiency in Faisalabad.

Advocates argue that improved investigative standards, faster documentation procedures, and stronger prosecution coordination are critical to ensuring timely justice for victims of child abuse.
