American tech giant Apple is reportedly planning to begin manufacturing iPhones in Pakistan under a new government-backed Mobile and Electronics Manufacturing Framework, according to multiple media reports published on February 19, 2026.

Key Details from the Report

  • Pakistan’s government has agreed to offer incentives to attract Apple to start local iPhone production.

  • Apple is also expected to initially refurbish older (2–3-year-old) iPhones in Pakistan for re-export to global markets.

  • Authorities estimate around $100 million in export revenue in the first year from these refurbished devices.

Officials say Apple has followed a similar model in countries like India, Indonesia, and Malaysia, where the company began with repair/refurbishment operations before moving toward full-scale manufacturing.

However, it’s important to note that Apple has not publicly confirmed these plans yet, and the framework is still awaiting final approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
