ISLAMABAD, March 16, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that salaries of federal government employees be released earlier than usual to ensure they receive their payments before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
According to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the directive instructs all federal departments to complete the disbursement of March salaries in advance so employees can meet their financial needs during the festive period.
The decision is aimed at providing relief to thousands of government workers who typically face increased expenses during Eid celebrations. Officials said relevant ministries and departments have already been instructed to begin processing payments so that employees can access their salaries before the holiday break.

Government sources noted that the early payment policy is a routine measure taken by authorities ahead of major religious festivals to help employees manage additional household spending. The move is expected to benefit federal employees and pensioners across the country as they prepare for Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
In addition, some provincial governments have also announced similar steps to release salaries and pensions before Eid to facilitate their employees.
Officials said further details regarding the exact payment dates will be communicated by the respective departments in the coming days.
