Dhaka, March 10, 2026: Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi has confirmed that three young cricketers will make their One Day International (ODI) debuts in the opening match of the series against Bangladesh, signaling a strong focus on fresh talent in the national side.
The debutants—Sahibzada Farhan, Maaz Sadaqat, and Shamyl Hussain—are set to feature in the first ODI scheduled for March 11 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
Speaking during a pre-match press conference, Afridi said the trio would form a completely new top order for Pakistan in the series opener. Farhan and Sadaqat are expected to open the batting, while Shamyl Hussain will bat at number three, giving the team a fresh start at the top of the order.

The decision comes as Pakistan continues its transition phase in white-ball cricket, with selectors bringing in emerging players to gain international experience ahead of future major tournaments. Several uncapped players were included in the squad for the Bangladesh tour as part of a broader strategy to build depth in the national team.
The three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Bangladesh will be played entirely in Dhaka, with matches scheduled on March 11, March 13, and March 15.
Cricket analysts believe the inclusion of young players could help Pakistan test new combinations while providing promising domestic performers an opportunity to prove themselves on the international stage.
