Petrol Price in Pakistan Today – Latest Update (March 2026)

The Government of Pakistan has announced the latest petroleum prices for the first half of March 2026. According to the official notification, the price of petrol has increased by Rs8 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs266.17 per litre across the country.

The revised rates took effect on March 1, 2026, following recommendations by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The government reviews petroleum prices every two weeks based on international oil prices and currency fluctuations.

Latest Petrol and Diesel Prices in Pakistan

The current fuel prices are:

  • Petrol (Super): Rs266.17 per litre

  • High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Rs280.86 per litre

  • Light Diesel Oil: Rs159.76 per litre

  • Kerosene Oil: Rs176.81 per litre

Petrol is mainly used in motorcycles, rickshaws, and small vehicles, which means the price increase directly affects daily commuters and middle-income households in Pakistan. Higher fuel prices also impact transportation costs and can contribute to rising inflation.

Reason Behind the Increase

Experts say the rise in petrol prices is linked to increasing global crude oil prices and higher import costs. Since Pakistan imports a large portion of its petroleum products, any change in international oil markets directly affects domestic fuel prices.

Additionally, global tensions and supply issues in oil-producing regions have pushed energy prices upward, adding further pressure on the country’s fuel market.

Impact on the Economy and Public

The latest fuel price hike is expected to increase the cost of transportation, goods delivery, and agricultural operations. As a result, many economists believe that higher petrol and diesel prices may lead to further increases in food prices and overall inflation in Pakistan.
