ATC Grants Bail to Imaan Mazari, Hadi Ali Chattha in Two More Cases
An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad on Friday granted bail to human rights lawyer Imaan Zainab Mazari and her husband, advocate Hadi Ali Chattha, in two additional cases linked to protests and an alleged altercation in the federal capital.
According to court proceedings, ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain approved the couple’s post-arrest bail petitions in cases related to a scuffle outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and a protest demonstration held outside the National Press Club. The court ordered their release on surety bonds of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 in each case.
The cases stem from incidents in which authorities accused the lawyer couple of involvement in a confrontation during a lawyers’ protest and public gathering. Earlier hearings included submissions from complainants and defence counsel arguing that the charges lacked sufficient legal grounds.

Despite securing bail in these two matters, Mazari and Chattha are expected to remain in custody for now because their conviction in a separate case related to controversial social media posts has not yet been suspended by the Islamabad High Court. Appeals seeking suspension of their sentences are still pending before the court.
The couple has faced multiple legal proceedings in recent months, including arrests and judicial remand orders connected to protest-related cases and cybercrime allegations under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
Legal observers say the latest bail orders mark a significant development in the ongoing legal battle, though the final outcome will depend on decisions in pending appeals before higher courts.
